History

Metcalfe County and the neighboring communities have a place to play because of the vision of one man, Father George K. Bowling.

Father Bowling founded M.A.R.C. Park in 1972. From 1972 through 1994, he solicitied donations from around the nation for the growth of the park. In his honor, M.A.R.C Park was officially renamed to “George K. Bowling Community Park” in December of 1994.

His thoughtful and caring ways have been evident through providing shelter for the homeless, clothing for those in need, and food for the hungry, plus recreation and entertainment for all. He is remembered best for being a good neighbor to everyone — Catholics and non-Catholics alike — and for his evangelization through recreation.

George K. Bowling Community Park was the dream he made come true. A dream that everyone can enjoy for years to come.
